A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE TO MY ISMAILI BROTHERS AND SISTERS — YOUR ETERNAL SOUL IS WORTH MORE THAN THIS WORLD.This message is especially for the Ismaili community. Please hear it with an open heart.You may have a beautiful community, generations of family traditions, cherished relationships, religious ceremonies, and a strong sense of belonging. But I ask you one question:What does it profit you to gain the whole world and lose your own soul? — Matthew 16:26Community is wonderful. Tradition can be comforting. Rituals can give structure to life. But none of these can replace the everlasting salvation offered through Jesus Christ.The Aga Khan is a man. He is human, just as every religious leader who has walked this earth is human. No earthly title, inherited position, spiritual authority, or religious institution changes the reality of our mortality.Jesus Christ is more than a religious leader. He is the Son of God, the Savior who came into this world to redeem sinners and offer eternal life.This Christmas, consider why He came.Not to establish another social club. Not to give us another calendar of rituals. Not to make us comfortable in worldly belonging.He came to save souls.My Ismaili friends, how much longer will you put off examining the claims of Jesus Christ for yourselves?How long will you remain spiritually asleep, occupied with the temporary things of this world while eternity approaches?AWAKE, YOU WHO SLEEP! — Ephesians 5:14You can love your family. You can cherish your heritage. You can appreciate your community. But your relationship with God deserves more than following traditions simply because you inherited them.Do not exchange the promise of eternal life for the comfort of never questioning what you have been taught.Read the Gospel of John. Examine the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Seek God sincerely. Ask Him to reveal the truth.The greatest gift of Christmas is not found beneath a tree. It is the Savior who came into the world.This song is my Christmas invitation to reflect upon that gift.
